Miranda had her awards assembly and graduation today. She's headed off to the big world of Middle School next year. That's hard to believe. She did such a wonderful job in school this year. I'm going to brag for a minute, but she really is amazing. Here is a list of all of the awards she got...
- President's Education Award (given to the top 10% of students in the nation. Signed by Pres. Obama)
- Golden Cougar Award (Given to 3 students per class. Millville Elementary's equivalent of the Hope of America Award)
- Certificate of Outstanding Performance on the Iowa Tests in Reading, Core Total, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, & Total Composite. (Recognized for scoring in the top 10% nationally.)
- Excellence in Organized/Clean Desk
- Excellence in Read Across America
- Excellence in Handwriting
- Excellence in School Pride
- Excellence in Citizenship
- Excellence in Accelerated Math
She had also worked hard all year to receive her Great American Award. In order to receive it she had to do the following...
- Match the 50 states and capitals
- Identify the 50 states on a map
- Recite by memory the Gettysburg Address
- Recite by memory in order of Presidency, the Presidents of the United States, first and last names.
- Write the Pledge of Allegiance by memory. All spelling and punctuation must be correct.
- Recite by memory the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner
- Recite by memory the Preamble of the United States Constitution.
- Correctly answer the questions on the Citizenship Test
- Read and report on a biography of a great American
Miranda, you really put your heart into all you do. We are so proud of you and the person you are. We are proud of your accomplishments, but you are so much more than just this accomplishments you are a beautiful young lady with a tender heart and giving personality. Daddy and I are even more proud of you for that! Way to go, Sweetheart!
